The goal of 401(k) Basics is to educate you on your plan. 401(k) Basics is a different kind of 401(k) book. It uses amusing real-life stories to teach you the concepts that will assist you on your journey to a financially successful retirement. You can chuckle and learn at the same time!

About Me

David "Dave" Stordahl lives in McIntosh, MN with his wife, Wanda. He owned Stordahl Tax, Inc. where he specialized in tax preparation, accounting, and payroll services. For several years he was a Registered Representative for a major investment firm and sold mutual funds, variable annuities, and small business retirement plans. He was also a licensed life insurance and fixed annuity representative. His practice also included fiduciary services, including acting as a court appointed administrator for decedent's estates. Dave is currently semi-retired and works part-time for FarmChek Services, Inc. He recently completed his forty-third income tax season preparing returns.

For many years I have met with income tax clients who also brought in their retirement plan statements. In most cases, they had a 401(k) plan. All too often they had difficulty understanding how their plan worked, and how to pick funds that are best for their situation. I decided to write "401(k) Basics" to help those participants better understand their plan and achieve their retirement goals.

My approach to writing this book has been to use everyday examples, instead of a lot of numbers and financial terms. I have included several little stories with characters and dialogue, based on actual experiences with my clients. Some of the stories might even make you laugh and learn at the same time! Most readers can read it in about 3 hours.
